Now that summer is finally here we have been doing a lot of crafts that can be used for outdoor play. I had some left over card stock and dowels from another project so we decided to make magic wands. This is a easy craft that even toddlers can make with only a little bit of assistance.
Supplies
Wooden Skewers or Dowels
Cardstock
Ribbon
Glitter Paint
Tacky Glue
Scissors
Paintbrush
Pencil
We forgot our paintbrushes, but we had pipe cleaners so we used those to paint. It worked surprisingly well, especially because precision wasn't exactly needed. Scissors and a pencil to draw and cut out the start shape are also needed.

Step 1. Draw and cut out the star shape times two. You can either hand draw your shape by hand or trace it depending on how confident you feel in your star drawing abilities.
Step 2. Take your dowel or skewer and paint one end leave it until dry to the touch and then paint the other end.
Step 3. Cut 4-6 pieces of ribbon of equal length and glue to inside of one of your stars with tacky glue.
Step 4. Assemble. Glue the stars together with the tacky glue with the dowel inside. Then paint and decorate the star as desired.
Give your wands about 10 minutes to dry and then they are ready for playtime. For more durable wands you can replace the cardstock with wood cutouts, use thicker and tie the ribbons on the dowels and add a dab of hot glue to keep them in place.
Happy Crafting!
